FC has panels in Details mode. User has lots of archives in a directory. Some of them further down the list are opened and then closed.
Observed behavior
When coming out of the archive, FC scrolls the list in such a way that the opened archive is the last item in the view.

Re: RAR Plugin
@dsperber
Thanks for the detailed reply trying to help, but this is a problem only Marek can fix.
From what I saw in your video, you use FC as another Windows Explorer. I am not using it like that, I am using it as it was intended to use an orthodox file manager. And this makes a world of difference ...

Re: RAR Plugin
This is exactly what I was trying to say from the beginning that I am missing in FC!
1. I want FC to ask me the path to an installed WinRAR in its config;
2. In the Pack files window I want to be able to select WinRAR in Archive format combobox;
This is not at all a problem of license.

Re: RAR Plugin
It is easily understandable that licenses have to be respected.
But what about developing the interfacing with an existing RAR? In my screenshot this is exactly what is being presented. And if other file managers do it for years or decades already, why doesn't FC?

Re: RAR Plugin
I am revisiting this 6 years later, because nothing was done to implement the packing of RAR archives in FC.
Please consider adding this functionality in an elegant way like other file managers did.
As an example, this is from the very interesting oMega File Manager:

Re: Displaying the drives menu (Alt+F1/F2)
After fiddling with this a little more I found out that in fact the drives menu that shows up using Alt+F1/F2 depends on the icon in the address bar.
If the user unchecks "Show drive button in address bar", the keyboard shortcuts do not work.
But for this to be proven, FC has to be closed after ...

Re: The variables in the status bar
I started FC with default settings and the left and right status bars display exactly the same information.
But this was expected.
But unfortunately that does not answer my questions.

The variables in the status bar
I was playing with the status bar, trying to understand how it works, the configuration of the variables.

Re: Key combination duplicate
Thanks, I know about the workaround, it is an obvious one.
I was just pointing out that it is not normal to have the same key conbination for different functions.
Suggestion
Ctrl + Shift + F - opens the favorites editor window

Re: Displaying the drives menu (Alt+F1/F2)
There is still something wrong... Alt+F1/F2 don't work again.
It's not the fact that they are assigned to something else in the system, they are not.
Tested in Double Commander and in Multi Commmander, they work perfectly every time.
Looks like a bug in FC.

Key combination duplicate
Using build 921, public, x32.
Alt + F should be assigned by default to open the File menu, since letter F is underlined.
But when user presses Alt + F, Favorites panel opens to the left of the window.
Shouldn't these two use diffeent keyboard shortcuts?

Draw border when selecting files
Using build 921.
When selecting files, FC does not draw the bottom line of the rectangle.
https://i.postimg.cc/htc9bKcG/2024-12-28-193840.png
My settings:
- panel in List mode
- NC-mode (sticky selection) with "Draw border" checked
- font Tahoma, bold, 10 (or Segoe UI, it's the same problem)

You're right, it works. Hm... I don't now what happened earlier, but it didn't. As soon as I checked the option, it started to appear again. Thanks!The popup menu is showed always
