You can adjust it in freecommander.ini
in section [Form] with

TreeItemHeight=12

or another number you prefer.

Changes in freecommander.ini need a closed FreeCommander.

FreeCommander XE 2026 Build v946 and v948 64-bit

DoubleClick on office-templates (*.xl t x, *.po t x; ...) opens the template-file, not a new copy of the template file.
Standard action in contextmenu is "new", second action is "open".
When using contextmenu the correct action ist user.

If you want to save the deactivated toolbar,
right click on toolbar >>> define action toolbars
and deactivate "standard"-toolbar (or a personal name of the toolbar).

This action can be saved by Tools >>> Save settings.

Reactivate the action toolbars by Tools >>> define action toolbars ...

On my machine CTRL+RIGHT/LEFT on a folder or folder link opens the folder on the other panel.
I've never tried it on a file.

I think Marek will solve it in next version.

AFAIK the filenames "This is a test" and "This is a Test" are the same names for Windows (NTFS-filesystem).
They can't exist in one directory as two files.

Only Linux-filesystem is differencing case ...

I don't know that favorite tools are limited to 20 items.

You can easily add foldern to the favorites toolbar by drag & drop.

Try to start FC with a fresh new settings-file:

Use start parameter
freecommander.exe /NewIni=.\settings\fctest.ini

Maybe there are false paths in the ini for your new computer.
Did you change from 32 to 64bit system?

You can use "Column profiles", to defined per column, whether it is sorted ascending or descending (on changing the sort column).
