Go up strips with a single panel

#1 Post by Walter Eagle » 01.09.2026, 17:28

I've found occasions recently when switching FC to a single panel view works well for my purposes. I've added the toggle button for single/dual to my Action Toolbar as a result. All good.

When I'm in the dual panel view, the Go Up strips are obvious: left for left panel and right for right panel.
But when I switch to single panel view, only one of the Go Up strips is responsive. Guess which one? Sometimes it's the left, sometimes it's the right. I always have to guess. It seems that whichever panel was active before leaving dual panel determines which Go Up strip is responsive. But I don't always remember which one that was.

Ideally, in single panel view, I'd like both Go Up strips to be responsive. Or is that option already catered for somewhere in Settings that I haven't spotted?

Thanks in advance.

You don't need any bottom for this.
The Backspace key is all you need.
Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.9278)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1423b (x64), Everything Toolbar 3.2, Listary Pro 7.0.0.9 beta
FreeCommander XE 2026 Build 954 64-bit donor

Sure.

Or double-click on any blank area of the folder shown in the panel ...
Or click on the ".." parent symbol of the folder shown in the panel ...
Or use the Tree to navigate one upwards ...

There are many ways of moving up.
I wasn't asking how to do this as a general principle.
I asked specifically about how the Go Up strips work in single panel view.
