Pleeeese do you think it could be possible to custom colorize folder rows ?
Yeees I know I can do it by timestamp and type but I really need a quick way to colorize some folders on the fly, not by any specific attribute.
Would this feature be possible, ever ?

Thanks

How many folders should have their own color? Is it, for example, 200, 2000, 20000?

I know what color folder means: a database and a performance issue.
The reasonable answer is: 400 ? It's a way to temporarely emphatize folder workflows. So there is no need for giant colors database.

But now, figuring out a solution, I'm thinking about another way:
What if the coloring is assigned in reaction to a specific customizable string? It could be an expansion of the actual coloring functions based on folder names.
For example freecommander could assign a custom color if the folder contains the strings "photos" "or "note" or "archive" whatever... so the folders "my photos", "client archive", "log notes" will inherit the custom color

What do you think ?

Thanks for listening

The other idea could be similar to "Color by file type" for files.

Exactly, an extended rule which recognize specific strings in files/folders. In that way I can set a rule of strings and using the appropriate names to obtain the color (and possibly the icon :D )

You can define color for folders under "Settings->File/folder list: Color by file type".
With the "+" button you can specify filter for folder path or filter for folder name.
