Here is my little problem, I can not rename multiple files, I do not understand the method

please describe what you're doing that "multiple rename" is not working so that we can see where the Problem is.

For example, I have 5 pictures that I want to rename in mike.
as in Windows Explorer, I select the images, right click, rename image.image 1, image 2, image 3, etc. ..

Yes, I know, that is what you want to do (rename), but what did you do in freeCommander?
Did you select all files to rename and chose "File" >>> "Multiple rename" and did then the multiple-rename-window open?
What did you do then?
Did you type anything in the field "file name"?
Did you push the blue arrow on the right side of "file name"?

For simple renaming of
picture12345.jpg
picture12346.jpg
picture12347.jpg
picture12348.jpg

to

image 1.jpg
image 2.jpg
image 3.jpg
image 4.jpg
image 5.jpg

the entry in "file name" has to be:

image [c]

[c] is the counter which you can manipulate with the entries in the "counter"-field.

I know, FC's "multiple renaming" is much more powerful than the one of Explorer, but copy a few files to a temporary lokation a try renaming the files with all possibilities you want.

Just a quick note of thanks for this explanation. I was pulling my hair out trying to find the right incantation to do this. Definitely more power here than Windows Explorer.

For the multiple renaming feature, is there a key somewhere detailing what the commands are? I know that [n] is the original filename, and I've learned here that [c] is for the count feature. Are there more? If so, what are they?
