Wish: Ctrl + a will toggle between "select all" and "unselect all".

Support. There is a shortcut to "invert selection", but it works only for files, so perhaps "Invert selection, all items"?

Thanks for the suggestion. The reverse of "Edit - Select All" is "Edit - Deselect All", and it works on folders as well as files.

But that still requires two shortcuts for what, to my mind, is a perfect situation for a simple toggle operation: Ctrl+a to select all, then Ctrl+a again to deselect all.

Because FC does not allow the same shortcut key to be assigned to more than one command, the toggle would need to be built into the program.

Now I am posting a counter-argument to my own wish for Ctrl+a to toggle between Select all <-> Deselect all.

The advantage of having a separate shortcut key for Deselect all is that it can be used to clear any number of selected items, from one item to all. If, however, the shortcut key only toggles, two strokes would be needed to clear a small number of selected items: first to select all, then again to deselect them.

It is therefore more versatile to keep Deselect all as a dedicated shortcut. So I hereby withdraw my previous wish for a toggle.

As I said, I support your feature request, Ctrl+A to toggle between:

- select all
- deselect all
- ... and if more than 1 and less than all items are selected, then select all
- ... then deselect all
- select all
- ... and so on

I really like this suggestion.

BTW I'm using Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+S to select all files with same extension, and Ctrl+D to deselect all.
