Added .tile as image extension in internal viewer but failed

I am downloading map tiles from OpenStreetMap with MOBAC (MOBile Atlas Creator) for the Maverick client on an Android smartphone.
Tiles are PNG images such as 22046.png.tile
I went to the internal viewer (F3) then F9 to configure, added .tile to the string of image extensions.
But result is a nasty error message:
FreeCommander - Viewer
Unknown picture file extension (.tile)
