tabs - collapsing to tab locked location

when moving between locked tabs, returning back to a previous tab has that directory tree collapsed back to the tab's primary locked location
this becomes especially un-useful when having expanded the working set of tabs to those for the current operations, and needing to temporary go elsewhere for a simple operation, then going back, I have to re-expand them again to get back to what I was doing
although this does not seem to happen every time, it des happen most times
if there is a setting that I need to know about, please advise
