In details view the columns are in a fixed sequence : name, size, modified, type, attributes.

How do you change this order? I want to put "modified" before" size".

In other browsers this is simply done by drag and drop, but it does not work here and I have not been able to make the change.

At first glance what is suggested in the link appears cumbersome and not very flexible. Do I need to personalize each view with the same columns, but in different order? Isn't there a simpler way like shortcut Keys or drag_and_drop?

If you want more flexibility, use FC XE: http://www.freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm
You can drag columns by column title and arrange them in any order you need.

Thanks again Joby_toss for your suggestion. The beta version does exactly what I wanted. It also has some other interesting features. I hope it will soon become the new version.
