MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) device - Creative ZEN works partially in build 579, but if I select disk, the list of disks doesn't include ZEN device.
The only way to access ZEN is to go up - to "Computer" and then it's listed as "ZEN Media Explorer" > Creative ZEN ( DreamerMP4 ). I can see the files, but copying/moving don't work at all.
In explorer there are 2 items, "ZEN Media Explorer" and "DreamerMP4" (in category "Portable Devices") and the other one works good in explorer, I mean copy/move...
So I think the FC needs that other item "DreamerMP4".
I'm not sure if it's a bug or not fully implemented, anyway I'm ready for testing...
MTP device - Creative ZEN
Re: MTP device - Creative ZEN
MTP devices seem to be popping up all over the place :^) Do these threads help?

Re: MTP device - Creative ZEN
Not really.
Could you explain it please? Can you copy the files from/to ZEN via FC XE?I can easily access a Creative Zen media player and other MTP devices in a tab in FC XE
Re: MTP device - Creative ZEN
Well, maybe it's "easy" after we find the not-so-obvious place to access the MTP device :^|
In an FC tab, go to Computer (in Win 7, I went to the root level of a drive, then Enter to jump up to Computer). The MTP device should be listed there. Open to the level you desire.
I could play an mp3 file from there. But hey... you're correct... there are some limitations to what can be done to a file in FC:
Copy or Move -- only via the context menu, but not by drag and drop.
Delete -- only via the context menu, but not by the Delete key.
If a folder on the Zen is empty, opening it jumps out to a Windows Explorer instead of opening it in FC.
The above limitations did not occur if done directly in Windows Explorer.

Re: MTP device - Creative ZEN
OK, thanks, so now I can see both items, also "DreamerMP4", strange that it did not work yesterday, I even tried to refresh the "Computer" path.
However, you are right, copying is limited to context menu. Using FC copy shows error message "The system cannot find the path specified." Path "::{20D04FE0....".
Is it a bug, or not implemented yet?
Using Windows Vista HP 32 bit SP2.

Re: MTP device - Creative ZEN
OK, now I'm testing Nokia N8, few results...
- Some dirs can't be accessed, error message text "The directory name is invalid." These folders are probably empty. (N8 and ZEN)
- History - cursor position of actual folder is lost after 2 times go up, e.g. in the folder X with 3 dirs, A, B, C go to folder C, then to subfolder D, ten go up, now folder D is focused (correctly), go up again, now folder C should be focused, but [..] item is focused instead. (N8 and ZEN)
- New file can't be created, when I tried it using a shortcut, result is nothing, no error message, no file created. (N8 and ZEN)
- New folder can't be created, error message text is long text with this at the end "The specified path is invalid." (N8 and ZEN)
