File Selection / Highlighted File Position Bug in 388

#1 Post by Bearded Kirklander » 21.10.2008, 18:37

Using 388 on Windows XP SP2.

I'm dragging and dropping 6 files at a time from the file list to a folder listed in the same "level" (see pic):

Image

The six files then MOVE as they should from the current level down into that "Done" folder. Once that is completed, the cursor is highlighting the top file remaining in the folder, as seen here:

File 115 of 124 is highlighted and should be selected, right?

So, what I want to do now is leave 115 highlighted, hold down the SHIFT key and click to entry 120 of 124 so that 6 files will again be selected.

BUT, when I try to do that, the selection origin does NOT start on the highlighted item (115 of 124) as it should.

So, what I end up having to do is manually click on 115 of 124 (which actually opens the in place rename feature) and then hold down SHIFT and click on entry 120 of 124 in order to get those 6 files properly selected.

The expectation is that right after the first drag and drop and the 115 of 124 file is highlighted, all I should have to do is SHIFT-CLICK on 120 of 124 to get the 6 files I want selected.

Problem is that after the drag and drop, FC 388 highlights the right file, but somewhere behind the scenes, the variable that identifies the currently selected file doesn't seem to match the highlighted file as it should.

Also of importance - if I hold down the SHIFT key and press DOWN ARROW to manually select with the keyboard, it's also not starting with the 115 file as it should.

It seems to start from the position where I clicked the mouse to initiate the drag and drop.

It seems like the "currently highlighted item" position variable is not being reset after the drag and drop is completed.

I think it is supposed to set the variable to the same "115 of 124" file that is highlighted, which is the FIRST line in the file list (at least in this particular case).

I hope that is clear enough to understand.

I'd really like to see this bug fixed, cause it's causing me to make some mistakes when I'm dragging and dropping files.

Please let me know if you would like any additional information, screen shots, etc.

Thank you,

BK

To put it another way, the selection beginning drops down one file when the next group is selected with Shift-click.

files exist:
aaa
bbb
ccc
ddd
eee

Move file aaa, and bbb is left highlighted:
bbb
ccc
ddd
eee

Shift-click file eee, and...
bbb
ccc
ddd
eee

Looks very illogical

I just found that this bug goes away when full row select is disabled.

Full row select? Could you please explain where that Full Row Select option is please? I can't seem to locate it.

Thanks
