Regularly, I get the error message
"The Item That this Shortcut Refers to Has Been Changed or Moved"
because e.g. folders were renamed.
FreeCommander should
1. detect those cases (prevent the windows message box from popping up)
2. FreeCommander should ask "Should I search for the target...?"
3. If answered yes, FC could suggets something like "Did you mean.......?" Maybe with several options as radio buttons. This should be easy in the case of renamed folders. This very much narrows down the search area a lot.
4. FC should ask "Should i update the link?" -> fixes the .lnk file.

Do you mean also the

Another user is asking for resolving to the issues of missing paths: viewtopic.php?t=14090
Re: Repair dead shortcuts
Is it really only me and a couple other people that are experiencing this problem? Right now, the only solution I can see is uninstall/reinstall FC.
Having this popup every time I start FC is getting annoying.
Actually, I suppose that I can create the path and then remove that tab. Ok, I'll try that.
Edit
..........
Great app and thank you for all your work on this. I thought that I had donated to this project, but I just checked and I hadn't. I just bought the 2 year subscription. I'm sorry that it's taken me this long to do that. And I'm sorry to sound so negative in my original post.

Re: Repair dead shortcuts
I think, from your description nobody know how to reproduce the problem.
Re: Repair dead shortcuts
My apologies. I don't post much in forums.
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem.
1. Choose a tab with a folder that you don't mind moving temporarily.
2. Lock the tab - in my case, I locked it with no navigation
3. Close FC
4. Move the target folder associated with the locked tab.
5. Launch FC
Upon launching FC, you should see an error box reporting a missing path to the target folder. It doesn't seem possible to tell FC "Yeah, I know it's missing. Don't try to launch it anymore"
6. close FC
7. Restore the folder to its original path.
In my case, to first resolve this, I didn't want to restore the original folder. I created a new folder to the target path, unlocked the tab, navigated away from the folder, saved the layout, and removed the folder.
However, I just figured out a quicker way. Once you click out of the error box (which I had to do twice), either unlock the tab or "switch to current" and then save the layout.
The caveat, though, is that both solutions require saving the layout which the user may not want to do. But I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't. I think that in most or all cases, it would be okay.
