Search Function Failure CreateDOCProcessRedirected

#1 Post by Jaro » 02.08.2026, 20:41

Hi,

Version: 952 non-public, Windows 11 (but present since 3 years)
Error Steps: Error when using Search Function > Search for "Containing Text" > insert anything
Error Behavior: Continuous display an error box with text "[function: CreateDOSProcessRedirected ] Function failure". Only by forced closing with task manager, FC is working again.
Mitigation actions: With clean portable version or clean installed version the error does not show up.

Help needed:
Any chance to narrow down, why this error occurs?

Thx
Jesko

In the Search dialog you have "Converter" tab.
Probably you have defined some converter but the definition is faulty.
Deactivate all converter and check again.

Thx for our help. Your tip partly resolved the issue.
In "Converter" tab there was a
Filter set for .doc.docx.ppt.pptx.xls.xlsx.pdf.odt.ods.odp.odg
with Program: %FcSrcPath%\TOOLS\xdoc2txt\command\xdoc2txt.exe
with Parameters: "%ConvertSourceFile%" >%ConvertTargetFile%

If I remove it then I can execute a search without an error. And if I set the mark to "Search in Office xml" it also search these files.

However, If I activate "Quick View" in the "Search results" then I get again the error box with text "[function: CreateDOSProcessRedirected ] Function failure". However, now i can click on it and go back to the search window and the selected file (tested with .pdf and .docx) is shown on the right side. This error does not show up in a clean portable installation.

Additionally, for some random .pdf files in the searched folder, I get the "Error creating GDI+ object (#21001)" in the "Search log". I also get that last error in a clean portable installation. Maybe this is a complete new bug/error, but maybe it is related, I do not know.

In Quick Viewer settings you can find the tab with "Converter" too.
Deactivate the definition.
Additionally, for some random .pdf files in the searched folder, I get the "Error creating GDI+ object (#21001)" in the "Search log".
Could you send me such file for testing?
