2-click File name edit feature?

#1 Post by Francois_C » 06.12.2008, 09:32

I am really missing this feature, which exists in Krusader and Total Commander: the ability of editing file names with two clicks on file name. Maybe I didn't find it in Preferences?

Thank you. It is almost the same as in Krusader (extension is not selected), but yours works even better. It should be set by default. But I used the zip version; maybe the installer has different options.
By the way, is it possible to remove the lines?

If your question for "possibillity to remove the lines" means the "grid" in details view, the answer is "yes".

Search for "grid" in the helpfile or look for it in the settings-dialog.
You will find there a lot of other usefull possibillities and settings for FC.

Thank you. I'm a little ashamed, for it was so easy. I searched for "grid" ("grille" in French) in the French help before I asked this question, and didn't find it; but there are so many features available in Free Commander!

Well, one more question :? : the thumbnail preview with Ctrl-Q Fast Preview on the other panel may be very useful for Gimp users, for there is no proper image browser in Gimp: they must use browsers like XnView which is excellent but a little too heavy now. How can get an "Open with" context menu when I right-click a thumbnail?

Hi Francois,

please read the forum rules (one topic - one thread).
viewtopic.php?t=9

A discussion about several questions or requests in one thread isn't really helpful for users which use the forum search to solve a problem.

About your question:
This isn't a FC-Question but a Windows/Gimp-Question.
I don't know what's the correct words for french windows, but like context menu for all windows programs use right mouseclick >>> open with >>> select program and search for gimp.exe.
Regards
Ralf

About the forum rules, I'm sorry. I have used forums for a long time and I know that.
About Gimp browsing limitations, I think they are linked to the cross-platform sources and GTK+ interface and cannot be improved shortly.
So I thought FreeCommander could be useful when I work with Gimp.
I understood the reason why I could not get an "open with" box with a right click on an image thumbnail: I must uncheck the Norton Commander-like right click select option.
But I should not have continued on this thread...
