issue with usability of multiple rename dialog

#1 Post by Calc » 14.04.2009, 08:02

using latest version of FreeCommander (2009.02)

just started using the multiple-rename feature, and noticing a few oddities.

1: when i added the button to the toolbar there is an arrow as expected for a dropdown list, but when click there is no list, I tried creating multiple profiles to see if they would appear, but nothing did. what is supposed to appear in this list?

2. when creating a new profile there is no easy way to update an existing profile, the save new profile window pops up but the dropdown isn't even populated with existing profile names, it might be useful to have a save option, or some other method

3. in the rename dialog itself, specifically the file extension / file extension boxes, when trying to setup a complicated rename pattern it wasn't uncommon to accidentally hit down when the box was selected, thus moving to the first saved item in the list, unfortunately this meant the pattern being worked on was thrown into the ether and had to be restarted. It would be nice if down was disabled, or if the entry was saved so it could be reselected. It might also be nice to have a few 'default' example renames, like generic mp3 tagger, etc...

thanks for the great program regardless

1. You need to restart FreeCommander, then the profiles should be in the menu.

2. Right, edit is missing, but it's not a bug IMO.

3.

Yes, I have already requested this.

1. yup, restarted did add it to the menus, though it would be nice if this wasn't required.

2. the 'bug' or inconsistency is that when you go to 'save new profile' the popup box is presented as a drop-down list entry box (with free form text ability too), but the list isn't populated (even after restart), kind of appears like it was on the todo list but got forgotten about, right? why have a dropdown box if you aren't going to pre-populate it?

3. on this one, cool for the future, but any idea about the first part, where a potentially long/complex pattern you are working on can get inadvertently wiped and a saved pattern selected?
