Removing underscores in folder names

#1 Post by planetbass » 22.01.2010, 13:13

Hi guys

Newbie to the forum (if not the product) and I'm organising a hard disk full of music, much of it legally downloaded.

I'm trying to rename about a hundred folders with Artist_Title for example, THE BEATLES_SERGEANT PEPPER to just SERGEANT PEPPER.

I've made a copy of the folders so I can't trash the folder or filenames but I can't figure out how to do this in Version 2009.02a.

Has anyone managed it? Many thanks.

If the MP3-Files are correctly tagged, you can use the multi rename feature of FreeCommander.

Select the required files, press F2 or File >>> Multi rename
Type [mp3title] at file name or use the blue triangle on the right side of the "file name"-field to chose > MP3 > title [mp3title].

If they are not correctly tagged, you can use e.g. MP3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html) to tag and rename the titels.

Hi Ralf, thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to rename the folders, not the MP3 files.

Thank you.

With "Rename Master" you can rename with wildcards:
replace *_ replaces all letters till the first _
