keep File and Folder permissions when moving files (Windows7

#1 Post by rindi » 04.02.2010, 14:25

When I use freecommander to move folders from one place to another, often the permissions I end up with at the destination are different from the originals. Is there some way to make sure the permissions are retained (I'm moving from ntfs partition to ntfs partition).

FC uses the systems copy routines from Explorer, so thats not easy done.

A Google search for "ntfs permission copy" shows some tools which can copy permissions on ntfs (e.g. robocopy).
