1. There is a special character "|" to search and replace multiple words/characters at once, it's very useful, for example to replace [ ] with ( ), but just few advanced users know about it, so I suggest to...
...add [v] button also next to "search for" field and add the "|" character to the menu of both Search and replace buttons.
2. In Search the other standard characters are working ("*" and "?"), but in Multi rename - Search and replace these characters are not working, could you add these characters also there please? Also as menu items for the Search and replace buttons.
I'm not sure which text would be the best, I suggest this (but suggestions are welcomed):
| - Multiple item divider
* - Wildcard character for any zero or more characters
? - Wildcard character for any one character
Such a button ( [v] ) with the menu with these items ("*" and "?") would be useful also for Search dialog.

My feature afa rename goes would be an Undo. Even if you had to manually save the state of the list of files first that would be okay. Esp. as it's easy to scramble things up. Sometimes I get some unauthorized command message, then the rename dialog pops up in German.
As example I just tried to use the rename [c] pattern to number a series of video clips. Unfortunately they weren't renamed in the order they were listed so that leaves me watching each clip until I get to a splash screen that tells me what episode it is. With Japanese videos that can be anywhere from 2 minutes to 20 minutes into the show with no set time even for the same series!! They just stick the first commercial break in whenever it seems
most appropriate for that episode!! For renaming a bunch of files to the same base name, like .avi file, .idx file .sub file the rename is easy. But pattern match seems to be broken.
