simple enough.

i want Preview docked in the right (or left) panel - NOT a pop-up.

but i cannot see any View or other setting that lets me do that

View->Quick view panel (Ctrl+Q)?

Yeah. Nuh.

I am getting a variety of results ....

see attached. no i bloody can't. drives me NUTS!!!!

best i have got is Preview in the RHS Panel UNDER the RHS File Tree/Files, which i can resize; I can get Preview at the BOTTOM of the SAME Panel; BUT i have NOT been able to get JUST the Preview (of the LHS Panel) on the RHS.

but seeing i cannot attach screen shots, you are pretty much in the dark. which is the whole f*g POINT of being able to attach screenshots.

You should set the Viewer to
"One viewer per panel"
"Use the opposite panel"
