File Container Location

#1 Post by wrbird » 22.05.2014, 17:01

When I create a new file container tab it creates it in the file containers folder based on the settings (%FcAppDataPath%\FileContainers). I know that I can change this location. However, what I need to do is create it in the current folder that I'm in, just like I would be creating an actual subfolder. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a specific reason why I shouldn't create file containers in any other folder than what the settings state?

I'm knew to using file containers, so thanks for your help.

I think it would be a mess if they'd be creating in many different folders, they work only in FC, I see no reason why they should be created in actual folder.

Yes I understand, but 1) I'm the one accessing them and I always use FCXE and 2) these .fcc files are really just txt files with the file locations, so anyone can open these files with a text editor and read the data if they wanted to. But, you've also answered my question, so thank you for that.

I suggest to create the button for "Tab container: Go to file containers folder" in the splitter bar, to easily access file containers - or/and create new tab, enter the file container and lock folder tab (perhaps for both panels), this way it will be available if needed, also after FC restart.
